INDIE SPOTLIGHT: INTERVIEW With UK Artist Jordan Bakewell

1. What is your name/stage name?

Jordan Bakewell

2. When is your birthday?

9th May 1995 (09/05/95)

3. Where are you from?

United Kingdom – Leicester

4. What do you do?

I am a self employed dance teacher and singer! I teach Commercial dance in the week and I gig every Friday/Saturday around the UK.

5. How long have you been making music?

I have been making music for 3 years now.

6. What was your first song/project?

My first song was called “No sleep till the Morning” – a nice dance/pop track and I first started making music in the lockdown period. 

7. Who’s your inspiration?

I am heavily influenced by R&B and Pop. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson and he was the reason I first started to sing and dance. Justin Bieber has also been another big inspiration to me as his music is something I aspire to be like. I grew up listening to very soulful singers like Lemar,Chris Brown,Ne-Yo,James Morrison etc.

8. What genre of music do you create?

I have a variety of genres in my catalogue but right now I am solely focused on representing myself as an R&B/Pop artist. 

9. Do you come up with your video concepts?

I currently only have one music video which is “Freaky” but a lot of the concept was my idea with the help of the film crew and choreographer I hired.

10. What was it like working with John Concepcion?

It was a great experience and an honor to work with a grammy nominated songwriter

11. What are some features you have?

I have three features in my catalogue of songs. (With you feat. Thir13een) – a R&B/Rap artist from London, UK. (Little Bit feat. John Concepcion) – my recent track. John is a grammy nominated singer/songwriter for his contributions on Chris brown’s latest album “Breezy” and finally (You Got Me – Calibeats remix) a fun dance track for the summer.  

12. What are some features you want to get?

There are multiple artists I would love to work with one day like Justin Bieber, Khalid, Wes Nelson, MIC Lowry etc. I am currently working on a song with a very well known Jamaican Pop/R&B singer. 

13. Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?

100% Michael Jackson. Now I would say Justin Bieber and Chris Brown for sure. 

14. Are you signed to a label?

No I am an independent artist. 

15. Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?

I defiantly would be interested in a record deal and distribution deal.
