INDIE SPOTLIGHT: 10 Questions with Kiss Avery

1. What is your name/stage name?

Kiss Avery

2. When is your birthday?

August 3rd, 1993

3. Where are you from?

Atlanta, GA

4. What do you do?

I am a self producing, engineering, songwriting, recording artist

5. How long have you been making music?

I’ve been making my own solo music since 2015 but was under a different name at the time. It wasn’t until 2020 I started creating my music from scratch adding my own flare on production. But overall music has been apart of my life as early as 7 years old maybe even younger.

6. What was your first song/project?

My first song created under KISS AVERY was “All I Ever Wanted” and the first project I put together would be “Collection” which was a compilation of singles released during the corresponding year of its release.

7. Who’s your inspiration?

Honestly my mother is the one who inspired me and I’m not saying this to recreate another cliche hallmark moment but she is literally the one that pushed me to get involved into music. The irony of it all is that me and my mom as I was growing up we did not have  the best relationship to a point where I started to resent her. I also never wanted to pursue music on my own will. My mother believed in my gift and wouldn’t allow me to let it go to waste which I was completely okay with at one moment in time as long as I had video games in my life.

8. What genre of music do you create?

I am open to every genre and have done several in the past such as Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Latin and the many subcategories that are within.

9. Do you come up with your video concepts?

I do come up with my own video concepts and plan on doing plenty more for this new album that’s been released

10. What was it like working with Lil B?

In this case it was a honor to have Lil B the BasedGod on my album because it was crazy how it all happened. I sent him some music a while ago which might have been a year or two before I finished up the album and he reached out at the absolute perfect time because I always thought and wanted someone big, prominent and influential to speak on the first track because of the tone that I wanted to give to the listeners to start out the tape. I had only a few people and ideas in mind that I knew that could pull this off and my first thought was Mr. Hotspot after meeting him and getting to know him through a good friend of mine I felt he would be perfect to say a few words of enlightenment. Due to an inconvenience of scheduling I was forced to finding an alternative speaker and so I went to youtube to try and find some inspirational audio and after hours and days gone I could not find any that fit appropriately. Then randomly B hit me back and said he loved the sound that I have and would love to be a part of whatever I had going on so I immediately sent him over the track and the details of the content needed on it and a few days later he hit me back and with the vocals he laid and that day I went straight to the studio to mix in his vocals to finalize the song. History was made for sure.
