Tory Lanez revisited the events of the July 2020 shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion in his latest release, “HANDLING BUSINESS,” a collaboration with rapper DDG.

In the track, Lanez raps, “Shorty, my city talk about me highly, know that these b**ches never can deny me/ Only one thing I regret on that night is jumpin’ up outta the pool with Kylie,” referencing the heated argument that took place after leaving Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood home.

Lanez was convicted in 2023 on three felony counts related to the shooting, where Megan sustained injuries to her feet. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for assault with an automatic firearm, carrying an unregistered loaded weapon in a vehicle, and gross negligence in discharging a firearm. With 305 days of time served, including house arrest and jail time, Lanez has been vocal about maintaining his innocence.

In “HANDLING BUSINESS,” Lanez also hints at his time in prison, rapping, “I’m even comin’ home sooner than I think/ They thought that I wasn’t recordin’ inside of the cell.” Despite his conviction, Lanez has not issued a formal apology to Megan, doubling down on his stance. “In no way, shape, or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of,” he wrote in a 2023 statement, maintaining his claim of innocence.

The aftermath of the case has not been easy for Megan Thee Stallion, who continues to face harassment from Lanez’s supporters. In October, the Grammy-winning artist took legal action against YouTuber Milagro Gramz, alleging defamation and harassment. In the lawsuit, Megan’s attorneys stated, “Enough is enough. Ms. Pete — a victim of violent crime and champion of women’s rights to her millions of fans worldwide — will no longer stand for [the] defendant’s campaign of harassment.”

The case has sparked wider conversations about accountability, victim support, and the role of public figures in influencing narratives around violent crimes.
