Freddie Gibbs has seemingly taken a shot at J. Cole following the release of his new song, “cLOUDs.”
Debuted on Cole’s Algorithm blog on Thursday (February 20), the track features bars that some see as referencing rap beef and competition:
“I caught a lotta murder charges, turned artists/ To martyrs, when I rock, thot turns to goddess.”
Gibbs wasted no time responding. He first posted a yawn emoji on X before elaborating on Instagram via his burner account, youonlydie0nce:
“N-ggaz be rapping about how they kill rappers and kill they careers and blah blah blah but he backing outta rap beefs,” he wrote, adding multiple reaction emojis.
Though he didn’t name names, fans speculate he was referring to Cole’s reluctance to engage in lyrical warfare with Kendrick Lamar.
While Gibbs has taken shots now, he previously praised Cole in 2020 when he showed off a pair of RS-Dreamer sneakers, playfully challenging Cole to a basketball match.
In a separate incident, Gibbs also accused Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR of biting his style on their collaborative album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which he claims bears similarities to his $oul $old $eparately era.
