Former Sex Worker Sues Over Sean Combs: The Reckoning, Claims His Story Was “Distorted”

The 50 Cent–produced docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning sparked intense conversation following its release, but now one of its featured participants is pushing back in court. Clayton Howard, a former sex worker who appeared in the series, has filed a lawsuit alleging that the documentary misrepresented his story through selective editing.

In the suit, filed against both 50 Cent and Netflix, Howard claims his testimony was “deliberately edited, distorted, and misrepresented.” According to the complaint, the final cut portrayed Cassie Ventura as a victim while omitting Howard’s allegations that he himself was trafficked by her—an omission he says caused serious harm to his reputation.

“Defendants deliberately edited, distorted, and misrepresented plaintiff’s account to portray Cassie Ventura — plaintiff’s primary trafficker — as a victim,” Howard alleges in the lawsuit, as reported by Billboard. He further claims that the production suppressed his testimony that he was sex trafficked by Ventura, which he says effectively silenced him while protecting someone he identifies as his trafficker.

Howard also argues that this portrayal served a broader agenda, alleging the changes were made to advance Curtis Jackson’s personal and business feud with Sean Combs and to create a commercially profitable narrative. In his view, the result was a story that favored one side while excluding key parts of his experience.

As part of the lawsuit, Howard is asking Netflix to include a disclaimer stating that accounts in the documentary were edited and may not reflect complete testimony. He is also seeking monetary damages. As of now, neither 50 Cent nor Netflix has publicly responded to the filing.

This legal action follows a separate lawsuit Howard filed last July against both Sean Combs and Cassie Ventura. In that case, he alleges he was sex trafficked by the former couple and claims Ventura gave him an STD and terminated a pregnancy involving him. He is seeking damages for emotional distress, medical costs, and lost income related to those allegations.

In December, a judge granted Howard permission to serve Cassie Ventura through alternative means after he reportedly struggled to do so through standard legal channels. As the lawsuits move forward, Sean Combs: The Reckoning continues to face scrutiny—not just for its subject matter, but now for how it told the stories of those involved.
