Exclusive Interview: Where’s Flaco Talks Music, Growth, and His Upcoming Live Show

For those new here, why don’t you introduce yourself?
“Where’s Flaco”

Where are you from?
Philly / South Jersey, USA

What made you want to pursue a career in music?

I’ve always been a writer, and always listened to hip hop music. I used it is a way to express myself. I wanted to pursue it as a career because I wanted to figure out a way to get paid for being myself and this allows me to do that.

Can you share some highlights of your music career, if any?

Getting a monthly residency at World Cafe Live, one of Philly’s premier music venues.

How would you describe your style and sound as an artist?

Raw, inspirational hip hop music.

In what ways do you believe your music resonates with your audience?

Everybody has gone through struggle. I talk about my weaknesses, my shortcomings and how I overcame them and hopefully that can give people motivation to do the same.

How do you approach collaboration with other musicians or producers?

People come up to me all the time wanting to work, and I love working with other people to make music — but the follow-through has to be there. I’m serious about my time and can’t waste it on people that don’t take theirs seriously.

Can you share any experiences working with a team in the past, or are you truly independent?

I’ve recently started expanding my team — I’ve hired an assistant, an event coordinator and I’m working with a manager now. The operation is still fully independent.

Have you had any significant achievements or accolades in your career that you’re particularly proud of?

Residency at World Cafe Live. 100k total streams.

What motivates you to continue pushing yourself as an artist?

My music inspires people, and so as long as there’s people that haven’t heard it I need to keep going to make sure they do.

Have you faced any challenges in your career, and how did you overcome them?

I face challenges in my career every day. I face them by relying on my skillset and the team around me to fill in anywhere I might fall short. Team work makes the dream work. I guess my biggest challenge is knowing when to ask them for help. We’re improving that communication daily though.

How do you engage with your fan base on social media, and what role does it play in your overall strategy?

I post a lot of content from shows, and promo content with the artists on my shows so our audience can connect with them before seeing them live.

What is the next single you plan to release?

It’s a song called “Legendary.”
