6ix9ine Turns Prison Sentence Into a Livestream Moment

Tekashi 6ix9ine has officially reported to prison, and in true 6ix9ine fashion, the moment didn’t come quietly. On Tuesday, the controversial rapper turned himself in at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, officially beginning a three-month prison sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release. Instead of slipping in unnoticed, the trip turned into a full-on internet spectacle — livestreamed and documented for millions to see.

Popular streamer Adin Ross was the one who dropped 6ix9ine off at the facility, broadcasting the ride and creating what felt more like a farewell vlog than a court-ordered surrender. Just before entering MDC Brooklyn, 6ix9ine shared one final message with fans on Instagram: “Thank you guys so much see you in 3 months ❤️.” The post quickly went viral, with reactions ranging from support to criticism, proving once again that love him or hate him, 6ix9ine still commands attention.

This latest chapter traces back to his infamous 2018 federal racketeering case, one of the most talked-about legal sagas in modern hip-hop history. After cooperating with federal authorities and testifying against former associates, 6ix9ine received a reduced sentence. Once released, he remained under supervised release — conditions that followed him closely long after the headlines faded.

Fast-forward to 2025, and just six months before those supervised release terms were set to expire, authorities arrested him in Florida after discovering drugs in his home. He later pleaded guilty to possession, a move that ultimately led to his current sentence.

While prison is no joke, 6ix9ine has already found a way to frame the situation in his own unpredictable way. Earlier this week, he confirmed on social media that MDC Brooklyn will house him alongside several high-profile inmates. Among them: Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia, who were reportedly captured by U.S. military forces and transferred to New York. Also awaiting trial at the facility is Luigi Mangione, accused of the 2024 murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

MDC Brooklyn is no stranger to celebrity inmates. In past years, figures like Diddy, R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Sam Bankman-Fried have all spent time behind those same walls.

Speaking to fans, 6ix9ine leaned into the surreal nature of it all. He joked about his history of being incarcerated alongside world leaders and famous figures, even claiming plans to play chess, eat ramen noodles, and pass time with fellow inmates.

Whether you see it as dark humor, coping, or pure entertainment, one thing is certain — 6ix9ine continues to blur the line between hip-hop, internet culture, and real-life consequences. For the next three months, his story moves from Instagram feeds to prison walls, but knowing 6ix9ine, this won’t be the last chapter fans hear about.
