Om Morello once said, “A musician’s or artist’s responsibility is a simple one, and that is, through your music to tell the truth.”
Mo Baig takes this responsibility quite seriously. From a young age, Mo didn’t let anyone tell him what he should do or what kind of person he should become.
While everyone else was dreaming of getting a good job where they can work for 40 years in exchange for a decent retirement life, Mo never wanted to postpone his dreams. He wanted the freedom to travel whenever he wanted, which is why he never chased corporate life.
With his laptop in tow, he chose to embark on a journey around the world, making money while sharing his music to the world.
Mo’s idea of success is being able to live life on his own terms. And that’s exactly the message he likes to spread through his music. That’s why for Mo, it’s very important that musicians and artists can live their own truths.
“What kind of message will they share to the world if they don’t even live their truth?” asks Mo.
“The moment I decided to be a musician, I vowed to always live my own truth, so I can share it with the rest of the world, too.”
And if he’s being completely honest with himself, all he really wants as a musician is to inspire more people to be like him.
“Way too many people measure success using parameters that other people had set for them,” says Mo. “I want to be able to tell them, hey, it’s okay, you can call your own shots. Look, that’s what I did, and I’ve never been happier.”
Coming into 2022, Mo wants his music to reach more people. Whether that means getting more recognition or simply reaching more souls through his music, Mo vows to appreciate it, and whatever the future holds for him.
Mo Baig may be a musician and a businessman, but even more importantly, he considers himself as a truth-teller.
