SZA and Simone Biles Showcase Fun Handstand Battle Ahead of Olympics

As the 2024 Summer Olympics approach, R&B icon SZA and gymnastics superstar Simone Biles delighted fans with a light-hearted handstand competition. The playful challenge, part of a promotional video released on Monday (July 1), featured the “Good Days” singer expressing her awe for Biles’ remarkable talent.

“I don’t care about my nails. I’m scared to lose,” SZA confessed to Biles during their warm-up. Reflecting on her own background in gymnastics before her musical breakthrough, SZA shared her enduring competitive spirit. “You’re like my wildest dream,” she said to Biles. “I was nowhere near as cool as you […] I just have never seen anything like you — no one has.”

Surprisingly, SZA held her handstand a bit longer than Biles. “That was so good,” remarked the 27-time gold medalist. The video ended with a “to be continued” note, hinting at more collaborative moments between the two.

Joseph Lee, NBC Universal’s Senior Vice President, commented on their interaction in a press release, stating, “The mutual admiration between SZA and Simone hints at the phenomenal competition we can expect at the Paris Olympics. Their joy in each other’s company reflects the cultural excitement that will be evident as we watch these athletes perform.”

Simone Biles secured her place in the Olympics by winning the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Sunday (June 30) with a score of 117.225 points. The Paris Games, scheduled from July 26 to August 11, will be Biles’ third appearance at the prestigious event.

Meanwhile, SZA is preparing for her upcoming album release. During her performance at BST Hyde Park 2024, she asked her fans, “New album, you ready?” She also gave a sneak peek of a new song titled “Storytime” on her social media accounts.

Both SZA and Simone Biles continue to inspire and entertain, whether through music, sports, or fun challenges, as they gear up for a summer of excitement and competition.
