Sahj: Long Beach’s West Coast R&B Visionary
From the heart of Long Beach, California, Sahj has been shaping the modern West Coast R&B and rap scene with his smooth vocals, melodic flows, and authentic storytelling. Growing up playing drums and soaking in music from the radio, Sahj developed a deep appreciation for rhythm and melody that would eventually fuel his musical journey. His love for collecting CDs as a kid only intensified his passion, setting the stage for a career rooted in creativity and dedication.
Sahj’s first recorded track, “Valuable Pain”, was captured in a friend’s garage, signaling the start of a path that would see him blending influences from D’Angelo, Blxst, Nate Dogg, Brent Faiyaz, Bino Rideaux, and Donell Jones into a signature sound. His music spans West Coast R&B, contemporary R&B, and rap, creating a unique sonic space that’s both soulful and streetwise.
Throughout his career, Sahj has collaborated with an array of artists including 4eva Juice, 1hunnidd, YT, Santana Wildin, ES YB, Philly B, Benjino, Joe Maynor, K2Icyy, and ToneGotTheJuice, showcasing his versatility and strong connection to his local and extended music community. When asked about dream collaborations, he cites Nate Dogg, envisioning a West Coast anthem that merges their voices and pays homage to their Long Beach roots.
Independent but backed by his team Sahsyde, with producers like ChilloutMar, PaupaGotBeats, MHR, Execute, OmgTaylor, ProdMel, Floccomadethisbeat, ProdbyKG, LarryJay, and QuisKeys, Sahj carefully curates every element of his music. His creative vision extends to visuals and video concepts, where he applies a self-taught creative director mindset to bring his music to life on screen.
