“Opportunities have expiration dates”: Radikal Hughes Urges the Youth to Act Before It’s Too Late

The young see time differently. They see it as a vast plain, a never-ending landscape that will stay the same forever. The adult sees it differently. For an adult, time is but a tool that sooner or later slips out of hand if one does not learn to master it. It’s the same with opportunities. While the world may have opened up like an oyster to the young, Radikal Hughes, a Christian recording artist and faith-based Influencer earnestly believes that this plethora of opportunities may make youngsters greedy, lazy, and altogether harbingers of their own doom. For him, all opportunities have expiration dates and must be dealt with carefully. Let’s decode what he means.

It’s one thing to use an opportunity, another to recognize it. The latter precedes the former and it’s in acknowledging the presence of an opportunity that one stands to bask in the benefits it may hoard. Radikal Hughes says, “Opportunities are no longer as evasive as they used to be. Now they are a dime a dozen. The dictum that you can be anything you want to be has made people develop new ways of working and creating. However, when we allow greed to overtake us, or for that matter laziness, we tend to either go after too many things hoping to not miss out or wait for something else to show up in order to move our muscles in the direction of action. Both attitudes can cost youngsters time and that’s something that’s hardest to retrieve.”

Today’s youngsters are more informed than their predecessors. However, there remain many things they can learn from those who have helped shape the world they currently occupy. For Radikal Hughes, that would be taking opportunities seriously and remembering that they don’t last forever.
