Interview with Dereyan Lewis

1. What’s your name?
My name is Dereyan Lewis
2. Where are you from?
I was Born and Raised in Meridian, Ms
The”Queen City” to be exact!
3. How old are you?
Im 32 years old
4 .When did you start making music
I started making music at the age of ten. I was in band from 6th grade until 12th grade in high-school. Then I started making beats after I graduated in 2007
5. How serious are you about your career?
Im as serious as a heartache when it comes to music and my ability to use my creativity for new ideas musically, establishing new relationships, and elevating my sound. Music feels embedded in my soul.
6. Have you ever thought about quitting music?    Sure!, I mean, what musician, rapper, singer, etc, you know that Haven’t had those weak moments when things don’t go as planned, or doubt and discouragement lingers due to failed projects. But the only way to win is to keep playing.

7. Who inspires you the most?
I get inspiration from alot of different artists And music genres. Its safe to say I’m inspired by the Culture of Hip-hop and everything it offers. Its honestly, a way of life for me!
8.What got you into making music?
Honestly for me, music is all I know.
I been making music for years,  I starting making beats after being heavily influenced by a lot of Down-South music and artists,Like Young dolph, Ludacris, Curren$y, BigKrit, Slimthug,Bun B ,etc.Just to name a few of my favorite artist.

9.Who is your favorite producer?
Dang! That’s a hard question to answer. Its so many Dope and talented producers in the industry in their own lanes going hard. Zaytoven, Cardo, and sledgren, are my Top 3 favorite producers.
10. What is one of your best songs/beats?
I would say one of my best beats would be the song”Up to Somethin”  written by NinoBrown305 from his last album Grapes 2
11. Are you signed to a record or label?
Not at the moment,  I’m indie right now or until something big comes along.
12. Have you ever performed?
Nawl, No way! im just a producer, I like Being able to take the backseat and make beats in a creative space. I’ll leave the performing to the Rappers and singers.
13. Who would you most likely collaborate with?   Larry June, Curren$y, Jay Worthy Cardo, Sledgren, Slimthug. The list just keeps going.  These artists are heavy music influences to me.

14. If you could open for any artist who would it be?  Well! Im just a producer.
I not sure how that works. But if I were a Rapper, I would Surely open for Curren$y or Larry June

15. What’s next for you?
As far as music projects go, I don’t have any scheduled releases at the moment. But on the business side of things. Im just Networking, Doing some press and marketing just to establish a lil more credibility in the industry whether its major or indie.
