Exclusive Interview With Hip-Hop Artist Errol Allen

What’s your name and what do you do?

Well, my name is Errol Allen and I’m an independent music artist, writer, performer and actor.

What is something you are very proud to have done in the music industry?

So recently, I was blessed with the opportunity of being featured on the BET+ show, “SACRIFICE”. A friend of mine named Deraj, hit me up on instagram and asked me if I lived in the New Orleans area, and at the time I didn’t. I was living like an hour away but I just said yeah because it wasn’t that far of a drive you know? So yeah, he hit me up and was like, “I’m a bout to plug you in with a friend of mine named Ashley, they’re looking for an artist to shoot with.” So in my head I was like okay, that’s cool. I thought they just wanted to use my music in a TV placement or something. Nah bro, they hit me up and told me they wanted me to act in the show and perform one of my unreleased songs in the show! I was like bro, there is no way. So yeah, long story short, catch me on season 2 of Sacrifice acting and performing and what not. I never acted a day in my life but ya boy is on TV talking to Paula Patton haha. Look at God!

What is your dream collaboration

My dream collaboration? Man, that’s a great question. I’m a real life true to heart Wayne fan man. I would have to say that I would want to be on a song with Lil Wayne, Drake and T-Pain all on the same song. That is like, wow. That’s a God-like collaboration man. Then I recently started listening Rod Wave so, Rod Wave and Ace Hood would be the other collaboration I would love to have man, I have so many collaborations to choose from, but if I had to pick, it would be those two for sure. I love those dudes bro, they’re so talented and creative, they made me who I am today.

When and why did you begin to do music?

Man, I began making music when I was like eight, but professionally? I would have to say 2016. I started making music because of Lil Wayne, Lecrae and Kirk Franklin. Those are like my core inspirations when it came to me wanting to get into music. I wasn’t always a christian artist, I used to be very sexual and gritty with music even though I was never like that haha. My mom would find my raps and literally throw them in the trash and man, that used hurt me so bad, so many gems just wasted, literally haha.

What is your message to the world?

Never give up. Even when you feel like the world is against you and everything is falling down ontop of you, NEVER GIVE UP! Today’s struggle is not tomorrow’s promise. Life is too short to worry about today. It will be better in the morning because God said so. So go to bed at night knowing that God brings joy in the morning so rejoice and be glad in it! If you ever need a confidence boost, go watch the movie “Pursuit of Happyness.” That movie made me cry, smile, laugh, dream and rejoice because it’s so powerful. That movie is literally my life and it’s so beyond inspirational to me. I encourage everybody to go and watch it at least once and watch what it does to you mentally, physically and spiritually. It’s definitely a cheat code for confidence and willpower. That Movie made me feel like I could be a millionaire by tomorrow, haha!

What impact do you want your music to leave on the people around you?

So when God found me, I started making music that was more realistic but still vibey, catchy and relatable to people even though I was talking about my own personal life. I wanted to break the barrier of “Christian Rap.” That’s why I personally don’t curse in my music because I want kids to be able to listen to my music and not have to worry about their parents coming in and asking them what in the world they’re listening to. I just want people to have a positive experience when they listen to me. God is the forefront of every word that I speak, so that one day, through the words that God has given me to speak, they may come to Christ and understand my deep love for him.

Where can someone find your information?

Well, all of my socials are tagged @errolallenjr. That goes for FaceBook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Snapchat. Everything social for me is all under @errolallenjr, so yeah, thank you dad for that name haha. I’m forever grateful.
