August Alsina Calls Out Young Thug’s Past Comments About Closeted Gay Men

August Alsina has publicly criticized past remarks made by Young Thug, describing the rapper’s views on closeted gay men as “stupid” during a recent social media response.

The exchange stems from comments Young Thug made during a 2025 appearance on the Perspektives with Bank podcast. During the interview, the Atlanta rapper shared his opinion that a man who presents himself as straight before later revealing he is gay is being deceptive. While Thug emphasized that he did not have an issue with gay people, his remarks drew criticism from many listeners who felt they reinforced harmful stereotypes about LGBTQ+ individuals.

Nearly a year later, August Alsina revisited those comments and made it clear that he strongly disagrees with the perspective.

Speaking about the interview, Alsina said the remarks resonated with him personally and argued that they reflected a misguided way of thinking. Rather than attempting to debate the issue, he said he believes some opinions should simply be recognized for what they are.

Calling Young Thug’s comments a “dumb” take, Alsina explained that he no longer feels the need to convince people when he believes their viewpoint is misguided. Instead, he said he is comfortable directly expressing his disagreement.

The conversation has reignited discussion about sexuality, masculinity, and authenticity within hip-hop—a genre that has increasingly evolved in its conversations around LGBTQ+ representation over the past decade. While many artists have embraced greater inclusivity, debates surrounding traditional ideas of masculinity and sexual identity continue to surface.

Young Thug has not publicly responded to Alsina’s latest comments at the time of writing.

Although the two artists have differing viewpoints, the exchange highlights the broader cultural conversations taking place both inside and outside of hip-hop regarding identity, acceptance, and evolving social attitudes.
