50 Cent Backs Da’Vinchi’s Claim That Lil Meech Played a Role in BMF Cancellation

The drama surrounding BMF has resurfaced after Da’Vinchi offered his explanation for why the hit Starz series came to an end. According to the actor who portrayed Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, Lil Meech’s behavior behind the scenes made it difficult for the production to continue—a claim that quickly received a strong co-sign from 50 Cent.

Da’Vinchi recently appeared on The Funky Friday podcast, where he discussed his experience working on BMF and addressed the circumstances surrounding its cancellation. He suggested that the show could have continued if it weren’t for the difficulties involved in managing Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., who played his real-life father, Big Meech.

“I think that Curtis Jackson’s biggest thing was that it was really hard to contain Demetrius Flenory Jr.,” Da’Vinchi said, while making it clear that he still has love for his former co-star.

The comments caught 50 Cent’s attention, and the rapper and executive producer of BMF didn’t hold back in his response. He appeared to agree with Da’Vinchi’s assessment, making several serious allegations about Lil Meech’s conduct during the show’s production.

50 Cent claimed that Lil Meech had been using drugs on set, spent money trying to emulate his father away from the cameras, repeatedly got into trouble, and required 50 Cent’s help getting out of jail so he could return to filming. He also accused Meech of “snitching on his friends.” These are allegations made by 50 Cent, rather than independently established facts.

BMF Cancellation Has Been Surrounded By Controversy

BMF ultimately ran for four seasons, earning a strong following while dramatizing the rise of the Black Mafia Family. However, speculation about the show’s future was complicated by the increasingly public tension between 50 Cent and Lil Meech, which was also connected to 50’s longstanding issues with Big Meech.

Still, the cancellation has previously been attributed to factors beyond the feud. Deadline reported that 50 Cent’s conflict with Big Meech was not the reason the series was canceled, although the situation reportedly created uneasiness among the cast and crew. The outlet also pointed to Starz’s strategy of developing new programming rather than continuing increasingly expensive established shows.

That makes Da’Vinchi’s latest comments an important part of the ongoing conversation, but not definitive proof of why BMF ended.

For now, 50 Cent appears to be standing firmly behind Da’Vinchi’s version of events. With the BMF story still generating discussion years after its debut, the latest comments are likely to reignite interest in what really happened behind the scenes.
