21 Savage recently opened up about his early days as a hip-hop fan, shedding light on the intense Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy beef that had a profound impact on him. In an exclusive interview on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the “a lot” rapper confessed that growing up on Atlanta’s East Side, Gucci Mane became a folk hero to him, influencing his perception of Young Jeezy.

“Gucci had a big impact. Gucci was the one. And he put [the East Side] on the map,” Savage revealed. He went on to explain how Gucci’s constant shoutouts to the East Side made him feel a deep connection to the rapper, leading him to harbor negative feelings towards Jeezy during their notorious feud.
